Mid Century Makeovers

It's been alittle busy here lately because of all the custom refurbishments we had to do for some clients in the past month. All that is done now. We can move on to new things that just came in.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

These desks have been done for awhile but I finally had the time to post them. These were actually some freebies from the cities annual clean up, which you can read about it here.

Mid century desk #1
This desk wasn't so bad when we picked it up. The leg was screwed off but that was it. It was very clean, all it needed was a wipe down and then off to painting.

The before.

Not so bad, quite nice actually for being original but of course here at Chateau Revivals, we prefer things painted.

And then...

The after

She was painted a custom grey/blue along with Kona stained drawers and legs, she was then after sealed with a poly.

She looks totally different, it's so modern! More our style!

Mid century desk #2

Here's one that had its problems. This thing was actually a sewing machine, with no sewing machine. The finish was super chipped off, the top had the sewing machine hole along with imprints of what used to be tile?? Someone tortured this poor thing.

The before..

The after

A brand new top was bought, the whole thing was sanded down to bare bone. She was painted Behr's paint and primer Zen. The top is stained Varathane's Early American stain.

She's all better now, and of course super cute!

Thanks for looking!

Check back for what we have to show next!
I promise you it's such eye candy!

The secretive dresser

When I first saw this dresser, which was upside down on its top, with the drawers jammed,  for some reason I couldn't pass it up.. Little did I know of its secret.. Not to mention its flaws. I took it without thoroughly inspecting it, I was excited. I could see past the years of its filth ( this thing was filthy). The shape was so cute, the curves and the 2 mini drawers had me sold.

This is the before. It was a honey color but after all the scrubbing with ammonia,
it was 5 shades lighter than the original color.

You can see al the grime run down!

After all the bar work on the drawers, scraping the veneer and fixing the bottoms ..

This is the beautiful ever after!

Did I mention it was actually a complete set with the mirror....

The drawers were stained 3 coats with Kona. (This wood was stubborn it didn't want to catch the stain)
They're protected with Varathanes water based poly, gloss.

The beautiful knobs are from Hobby Lobby, which go perfect with the paint color, which is a medium grey.

Oh.. Here's that secret I mentioned.... A SECRET DRAWER!! A secret button opens it, convienient for your secret things.

The legs are so cute, not too cury, yet not too simple.

Thanks for looking!

Cane Chair

Last week I managed to finish one of the two chairs I had bought at a yard sale. I got a really good deal on both because the second chair had it's cane back torn right in the middle.  I am still working on that chair, but I have to figure out how to upholster the back, as I can't find a matching replacement for the cane.  Well...here is one of the chairs, which I decided to paint in a custom mix of almost white grey, it's a very subtle color, and the upholstery I chose is a very pretty teal pattern bought at JoAnns. (well..I think it's pretty)

Here is the before and the after.

Thank you for visiting......

Patty
