The Four Drawer Dresser

I've finished this piece awhile ago but I've decided it deserves to have its own post because of how gorgeous it is.

The Before... The color of the finish was gorgeous but all those scratches will not do!

The after.... Just a small face lit. Okay alot! But she looks Alot more stunning, and a bit young for how old she is?!

The paint was a custom color of a soft grey/ blue mix glazed with a black. The top is Dark Kona protected with Varathane 's water based poly (Is it just me or does it seem that Varathane changed their water based poly along with their new labels?). Once again, the knobs are from Hobby Lobby. And those details on the sides... Oh my!

I wished to keep her but by the time I made up my mind, she sold.

I guess you don't know what you really have til it's gone!

Great Storage Dresser

Here is a dresser with so many drawers, it's just a perfect storage piece.

The grey paint on this dresser is nearly white (custom made).  The top has been stained with 

kona from Varathane and protected with water based poly, also from Varathane (four coats).  I do love the detail this piece has, look at those cute legs and the perfect choice of molding it has on each side.

Tall Antique Dresser Redo

Finally... After months just sitting there I have decided to work on this poor thing. It was barely clinging on to life!I mean look at it!

 

The sad before... Who would do that to the drawer! It was cut in half and made into two drawers.. and the top with the pretty detail sadly could not be saved! I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of the drawers inside.... the bottom was split in half and All of them were like that! and this poor dresser was covered in layers of paint...type of paint that would still stick no matter what you put on it. The legs were split as well, the whole thing was wobbly! this thing had problems!

And after i fixed those problems....

THE AFTER! 

I decided to paint her blue with a medium tint of grey. I then glazed with a tint of black.  The top and the side panels are stained with a dark walnut/ Kona mix and then sealed with a water based poly. 

And of corse, the two top knobs are from Hobby Lobby and the handles are from a miscellaneous stash of handles and knobs. 

I think it came out quite lovely from the previous state is was in!

Amazing Dresser Transformation

This to me is one of the most incredible transformation I have done.  I almost did not buy this piece  because it was sitting on the floor , no base, no legs, and the paint this poor thin had...oh my...well, I took the challenge.  I stripped this piece completely, top, body, drawers, the entire piece became raw wood.  I decided to paint it a almost white with just a hint of grey color, custom made.  I took my sample to HD and decided on Behr's paint and primer with stain block in semi-gloss, the top was sanded with 100 to 2500 grit for a mirror like finish.  I also water sanded it for that extra smooth feel.  I decided to use Dark Walnut stain from Minwax.

This dresser has two side doors that when open reveal beautiful wood drawers, those I also stained them like the top.  It is a very long piece, but I think is beautiful.
