Help...anyone...

Let me start by saying that we are new to blogging.......we would like to know if it's possible to get rid of advertisements popping up on the blog (see one up above), or is it something we need to live with since it's free.  If anyone out there can guide us to the right answer, maybe a info link,it would be greatly appreciated.
